Who are CID?

We are an independent family owned business based in the North of England with further offices in London, Manchester and Middlesbrough, allowing us to provide a nationwide service throughout the UK.

Over the years, CID has distinguished itself as truly different. We’re a successful company that does not like to make a fuss of our success. We have a simple philosophy of common sense and hard work.

First established in 1992, CID has gone on to develop a reputation for exceptional service and quality products which are fit for purpose, with a specific focus on supplying safety products, tools and equipment, diamond blades, and traffic management products to the Civil and Utilities sectors.

At CID, we focus on quality products which are fit for purpose and we ensure that our deliveries reach our customer sites on time, even the Same Day in the North of England.

Our History

The Beginning...

It all began when the founder and current chairman, John, ran his own construction company based in Bradford back in the 1980's and 1990's. John was frustrated by the amount of time wasted on site when suppliers didn't have stock and having to wait around for deliveries when tools were needed on site, today.

John's idea...

In the Mid 90's, John set about importing a small range of diamond blades and distributing them from a 'serviced office' in Kirkstall, Leeds. John distributed his stock to local authorities, construction companies, and latterly tool hire shops, maintaining good stock levels, quality products and reliable delivery services. Due to the values and commitment established by John, the company quickly become renown for service and reliability.


In the Mid-2000's, John's sons joined the family firm. In 2008, on the brink of the 'GFC', out of sheer necessity, the next generation (with assistance from Dad) introduced further product ranges of Tools, PPE and Traffic Management. CID was born.

The business has come a long way since then and now supplies contractors nationwide from the 3 acre distribution facility, just off the A1 and M1 in Leeds. Although the business is centrally located in the North of England, it also has a further facility in The South and can cover the whole of the UK and Ireland on a next day service.
